Brethren,

I'm not sure if the website is running. For the purposes of seeing the
Master's Message, here is the text.See you all Wednesday night.

Brethren,

     It is with deepest regret that I inform you of the passing of Brother
John L. Diesem. John lost his battle with cancer on August 19, 2003. He
was 62. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen W. Diesem, Mrs. Jean McCrosky
of Virginia, and Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Rodman of New Jersey.

     John was a retired businessman, a retired Lt. Colonel in the Air Force
Reserve, and served on the Board of Advisors of George Washington University
School of Business and Public Management.

     In addition to his membership in Freemasons Lodge, John was also a
member of the Scottish Rite, National Sojourners, Wauwatosa Lodge #267,
Tripoli Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, and The Sovereign Military Order of
the Temple of Jerusalem.

     A family service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in
Washington D.C.

     Remembrances can be sent to the Brain Cancer Research Fund c/o Dr.
Krouwer, Dept. of Neurology, 9200 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee WI 53226.

     John was a tremendous asset to Freemasons Lodge and the Children’s
Learning Center. His friendly personality, historical knowledge, lectures
on his Masonic travels, and his exemplary degree work were greatly
appreciated by all of us..............he will be sadly missed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      The annual picnic at Jerry Holz’s home was a big success.
Approximately 75 men were in attendance.  In addition to the great food,
guests were treated to a pontoon boat tour of the lake given by the local
police chief.  A special appearance by Gov. Lee S. Dreyfus capped a great
day of fellowship and fun.  Special thanks to our host, Jerry Holz and David
Weis, whose committee made this picnic one of the very best we’ve had.
     Our “Wait til Next Year” party at Miller Park was sparsely attended,
but we had a lot of good food and were able to come home with a victory for
the afternoon.  It is expected that we will see a re-energized ballclub for
next year’s season, and we hope to continue an annual Brewers event next
year.  Thanks to Keith Harmon for organizing both of our Brewers outings
this year.
     Our website: www.freemasonslodge.org has been experiencing some
sporadic networking difficulties, but is running as I write this.  Again,
anyone wishing to receive his trestleboard online who hasn’t already
notified me, please call me or E-Mail me at mkugler@charter.net
     Please note the EA degree which will be presented in German at the
Scottish Rite on Friday Evening , August 29th.  There will be a dinner
included with the event. Reservations can be made by calling the Scottish
Rite at 414-276-4744.
     Our Stated Meeting on September 3rd, will feature an EA degree for Rob
Eaton.  Please arrange to attend and welcome our newest member.
     This is the time of the year which we turn our attention to organizing
our 2004 year.  If you have any suggestions for activities, events, or other
ideas, please be sure to bring them to the attention of myself or Bill
DeLind.  We want to make each year better than the last, and your input is
important to all of us.  If you have a special committee on which you would
like to serve, or would like to start a new committee, please let us know as
soon as possible
     The untimely passing of Brother John Diesem is also a wake-up call for
all of us. We need, on a continuing basis, to enlist the support of our
membership to participate in degree work.  One of Freemasons Lodge’s most
valuable resources is our degree team.  We need to be as deep as possible at
every position if our Lodge is to continue to prosper into perpetuity.  If
you would like to learn a part (even if it’s a small one) in any of the
degrees, we will assist you in this effort. Our Degree Master, Bob Strader,
will be happy to speak with any of you who have an interest.  You can E-Mail
him (rstrader@wi.rr.com), call him at work (414-382-4956) or at home
(262-827-1606).
     As we bring the summer to a close, let us remember the good times,
build on the lessons learned from experience and adversity. Let us apply our
Masonic principles to our families, our friends, and our community,
realizing that sometimes our lives are prematurely shortened.
     Finally, please join me in silent prayer to commend the spirit of
Brother Diesem to the loving God who gave it.
Fraternally,
Michael D. Kugler
Worshipful Master  2003
